A person who laced sweets with sedative and provided them to minors at a summer program in the region has admitted sexual offenses against two young males aged nine and ten years old.

The accused was taken into custody after eight youngsters and an older person fell ill at the facility in mid-summer.

The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.

However, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old child.

Ruben was kept in jail prior to a further hearing on late November.

'Treat game'

The prosecutor, handling the case, described Ruben's offending to the court.

She said his targets were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer camp which he managed.

The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor said, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and request they to ingest treats "rapidly".

She stated to the judge the man had played this game with the boys "repeatedly", and minors had previously become sick the following morning.

She said the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had worries in July 2025.

The prosecutor continued: "This year his stepson had suspicions about the situation, for good reason.

"They decided to have a look in the defendant's belongings."

The legal counsel stated items including infant oil, petroleum jelly and syringes were discovered, and his stepchild contacted the authorities about his worries.

She explained the man went on to conduct the "sweet game" with six youngsters that night - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.

"The police had not arrived by that time," she continued.

The regulatory agency, the investigative body, previously told that it was reviewing the police response of the situation.

Mrs Prior explained the children were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member notified the authorities again.

She stated the man then conducted the "treat game" in a space of five children.
