AC Shadows Introduces Unexpected Attack on Titan Event for Holiday Season
In a bizarre partnership that breaks usual predictions, Ubisoft has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Disclosed
According to the formal release, "A strange meeting draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where whispers of banned practices and terrifying metamorphoses reverberate through the shadows." The plot features a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a hidden sect.
The questline focuses on "bizarre experiments and a monstrous adversary" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses
The preview showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, probably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Additional Features
Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an unique katana alongside multiple artifacts secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Exclusive implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Update
This release also introduces the game's third free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic techniques: Naoe introduces a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Japanese Animation Collaborations
This represents not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime properties. The series earlier included a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that obviously echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
